Colonel Ram Pratap Singh Khetrapal, commissioned into the renowned KUMAON regiment of the Indian Army in December 1970, stands as a distinguished war veteran, having gallantly served in the 1971 Indo-Pak war in the Chhamb sector. His journey into the military was a lifelong dream, nurtured through his education at a Sainik school. The army not only provided him with a fulfilling career but also an exceptional quality of life that he cherished throughout his service. It offered a rich tapestry of adventure, discipline, courage, and leadership, qualities invaluable in both peacetime and conflict. He courageously dodged the jaws of death on numerous occasions during wars and while combating insurgency in various parts of the country, such as Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, the North East, and other regions as needed in support of civil authorities. Colonel Khetrapal's service represents a remarkable commitment to the defense of the nation.
